Who are SAN DIEGO DOCS?

We are a local husband and wife team of internal medicine physicians that created SAN DIEGO DOCS to return to patient-centered care. By giving you our direct cell phone numbers, same day appointments, and separating your care from the insurance-dictated model, we focus on you. Without hiring any Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners, you are guaranteed to see only YOUR physician fostering a lifelong relationship of care focused on your goals, health span, and longevity.

With a limited number of patients our visits can be as long or as short as you need, no longer influenced by administrators. We have access to your consultant's cell phone numbers expediting your care. Other benefits include many free or heavily discounted medications, up to date evidence-based therapeutics, negotiated lab and imaging costs, some home visits, telemedicine, and education regarding nutrition and supplements.

  • Do you accept insurance?

    We accept you regardless of what insurance you have but we don't bill your insurance. The membership fee covers all of our costs except medications administered that are not on our free list. That means that there are no copays and we don't charge anything towards your deductibles. Ever.

  • Which medications do you provide for free?

    There is an extensive list of common medications which we can provide for you free but it is updated frequently. As such, we can provide it for you in the office. Most other medications we can provide at steep discounts by working with wholesale pharmacies and passing the savings on to you. 

  • Why would I join SAN DIEGO DOCS instead of returning to an industrial primary care physician?

    The average US primary care physician has 3500 patients. That leaves an average of 12 minutes spent with you after waiting months for your appointment and hours in a waiting room. 


    We will cap our census at 300 so that we can spend more time focusing on you, we have same and next day appointments, and we don't even have a waiting room. 


    Instead of paying copays, medications costs, facility fees, and markup costs on medications, labs, and imaging, all of that is covered in our simple fixed membership cost. Often our discounts offset most or all of our membership fees while you get better care. 


    While some offices can get you appointments in less then the average 3 months, they often do so using Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, and covering physicians. With us, you only see your doctor, the one that knows you and your health history the best. 


    Having worked closely with specialists in the area, we have personal access which we then use to facilitate faster and easier appointments for you. 

  • Do I need to go to a pharmacy?

    Most of the time we will be able to give you your prescribed medications right there in the office so you can leave with them in hand. We do not carry controlled substances (narcotics and benzodiazepines) but we can electronically send them to your preferred pharmacy to shorten your wait. 

  • Can you accept Medicare patients?

    Yes! Since Dr. Danielle Fam is opted out of Medicare, after signing a waiver that you won't submit our bills to Medicare, you too can be seen with the same membership benefits. 

  • What are your hours?

    Whenever you need but we do request that if an acute problem arises that can't be managed between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. that you go straight to the nearest Emergency Room. Otherwise, we will be glad to help you the following morning. We adjust our appointments around your schedule and can even include weekends when necessary. You are free to e-mail us anytime but text, Zoom visits, and in person appointments will be managed between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

  • What else do you charge for?

    Nothing we do in the office unless a medication is administered that is not on the free list. We won't charge for any of our procedures, counseling, time, or referrals as they are all covered by the membership. 


  • How many visits do I get for my membership fee?

    As many as you need! We are available for as many appointments as you medically need. Some issues can be managed via text message, e-mail, phone, or Zoom which saves you trips to the office. These are all included in our membership. Some patients need to be seen frequently while others less so and we are happy to accommodate both. With a fixed cost, we want to divorce the cost from your healthcare so you are seen as often as you need without worrying about copays or insurance hassles.

  • Can I pay with a Health Savings Account (HSA)?

    While we recommend that you discuss this with your health savings account administrator or CPA, thousands of people are already using their HSA accounts to pay for direct primary care and concierge memberships. We will accept whichever payment type works best for you.
